Tours begin and end outside the Scottish Poetry Library, an award-winning, purpose-built poetry library which opened in 1999, and which houses a collection of Scottish and international poetry. The Library itself is open Monday – Thursday, 10am to 3pm.

Limited access to some parts of venue site, No wheelchair accessible toilet, No reserved accessible parking, No on street blue badge parking, Assistance dogs welcome in all areas. The venue is the starting point for a walking tour around the Canongate. Most of the walk is along pavements and footpaths, which can be uneven underfoot, and there are also some steps
